Dual Certification in Rheumatology and Allergy and Immunology
Description
Dual certification in rheumatology and allergy and immunology requires a minimum of three years of training which must include: (1) at least 12 months of clinical rheumatology training supervised by the director of an accredited rheumatology training program (2) 18 consecutive months of rheumatology continuity clinic and (3) at least 18 months of allergy and immunology training supervised by the training program director of an accredited program in allergy and immunology. Plans for combined training should be prospectively approved in writing by both the rheumatology and the allergy and immunology training program directors and by ABIM and the American Board of Allergy and Immunology. Admission to either examination requires: (1) certification in internal medicine, (2) satisfactory clinical competence and (3) completion of the entire three-year combined program.
