Description
A phlebotomy technician's primary task is to collect patient blood samples through venipuncture or microtechniques. Often, they are the only members of the medical laboratory team who come into contact with the patient and thus play an important role. Other important tasks that they may carry out include: verifying patient or donor records, testing drug levels in blood, labeling and storing blood samples for processing, analyzing blood cells and body fluids, performing patient interviews, and obtaining vital signs.
